Be a Safe “Flasher”

Anyone who cycles, runs, or even just walks across the streets at night will appreciate this – reflective clothing that’s stylish and helps to keep you safe.

Alex Vessels and Mindy Tchieu came up with the idea of We Flashy as an outcome of a design class project. Wanting to be safe from motorists while cycling at night and not wanting to sacrifice style, they designed a series of reflective t-shirts. Now you don’t have to don a big yellow or orange safety vest to be visible! Their shirts are even work-friendly (because no one wants to be glowing while in a meeting at work) and can go from day to night as the material looks normal in indoor environments .

Check out Alex and Mindy as they describe their idea. They hope to get funding to further develop their idea on kickstarter.com – a funding platform for creative projects.

What do you think? Would you wear one to stay extra safe while out cycling at night? It sure beats those reflective vests!

  1. I think this is a great way to stay safe and trendy. Some people who don’t pay attention while driving often miss people at night. I’ve often said, “OMG! I didn’t even see that guy standing there.”
